Fred is an enthusiastic and driven coach who has worked in the horse industry for over 20 years. Starting from local riding schools near his hometown of Southend he moved on quickly to compete horses in British Eventing competitions and British Dressage. Fred has competed successfully in eventing up to 2* level and in Advanced dressage. Fred is a British Horse Society senior assessor and a trainee dressage judge for British Dressage who works extensively in the UK and abroad including Ireland, USA and China
Fred has produced many horses over the years and he enjoys training all types. He has had successes on Thoroughbreds, Iberians, Warmbloods and Cobs. Fred says, 'I enjoy training all horses to achieve their best and it is not always about winning, it is about the journey with that horse.' Fred's success is not limited to the horse industry, in 2015 he competed in the Outlaw Triathlon, an Iron distance race of a gruelling 140.6 miles finishing in the top 100 with a time of 10hours 44 minutes. He says about this 'You can accomplish a lot in sport with the right inspiration, a good plan and dedication to see it through.'
Fred enjoys working with a variety of clients. It doesn't matter what your level or what you want to accomplish, as long as we have a clear objective we can make a plan to see it through. Fred currently works with 'happy hackers' through to ambitious amateur riders competing in affiliated competition, professionals and riders competing in international FEI classes. He regularly coaches pony club teams, helping several teams to progress to the Pony Club national championships and works with several of the local riding clubs.
As well as coaching people on their own horses Fred is very active in helping other professionals further their careers. Fred is available for training towards BHS exams or as a mentor for other coaching qualifications. Over the years Fred has helped a variety of people to achieve their BHS qualifications up to the prestigious BHSI level. Fred is proud of his association with the society. He is a life member and has sat on the Board of Trustees and the Qualifications and Training committee. In order to maintain his professional competence, Fred attends regular CPD days and as a member of the Accredited Professional Coaches list maintains comprehensive insurance, first aid and child protection with DBS.
